On August 23rd and 24th, 2025, over one hundred young pharmacists from across Lagos and beyond came together for the Beyond the Pillbox Career & Personal Branding Bootcamp, organized by the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria – Young Pharmacists Group (PSN-YPG), Lagos Chapter.
Themed “Beyond the Pillbox: Building Bold Careers in Pharmacy and Beyond”, the two-day virtual bootcamp created a space for honest conversations about career growth, self-leadership, and professional visibility in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
Day 1 Highlights
The first day featured two powerful keynote sessions:
- Pharm. Kemi Sope-Agbebi, Head of Partnerships and Commercial Excellence (West Africa) at PBR Life Sciences, admonished participants to become people of value, reminding us that “opportunity goes in the direction of value.” She emphasized continuous learning, adaptability, and legacy-driven leadership.
- Pharm. Oluwabukunmi Familoye, Strategy Consultant, inspired attendees with her reflections on the courage to pivot and the fluidity of careers. She encouraged young pharmacists to embrace change boldly and maintain a learner’s mindset.
Day 2 Highlights
The bootcamp concluded with a deeply practical and motivational session by Pharm. Yimika Oguns, Lead Coach at The Personal Brand Cafe. She spoke on self-leadership and personal branding, stressing the importance of being proactive in the workplace, taking ownership, and practicing intrapreneurship. She further challenged participants to be intentional about choosing who they are and portraying their brand with clarity and consistency.
Why It Matters
Across both days, participants left with renewed confidence and actionable insights to chart careers that go beyond the pillbox — careers that are bold, diverse, and impactful. The sessions underscored a truth we must all embrace: pharmacy is not a box, but a launchpad for innovation, leadership, and transformation.
